Should we buy the HDB ?
Hi! I'm back! We asked various people on feedback with regards to the option that we may take (Option 2:Whampoa). I'll just summarise :
Characteristics of the Whampoa place:
- top floor
- windy
- beside CTE
Feedback from various people :
- top floor : hot, may have leakage problem, damp ceiling, unwelcomed visitors i.e. flying roaches and lizards from the roof.
- beside CTE : will be noisy. Weekday will be noisy till around 11-12midnight. Weekend, 1-2am.
So after tossing and turning for two nights (Sunday and Monday night) David and I have decided not to go for this unit and trust God to provide "The One" house that is for us.
Well, so today, we took half day morning leave and went back to office to work.
Ok, here is Lydia signing off a chapter of her life. :)
Introducing P-i-P-O
Curious? Hint: A very important character in my life now. Tell you in the next chapter of Blurr Blurr Gal. So stay tuned.
House Hunting - Walk-In Selection - June2005
Watched Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Good movie. It is really interesting to see how much you can hurt the person and love the person at the same time. Watch the movie : especially the part where the house is being redecorated. Angelina Jolie, I just admire how she carry herself. I wonder what she use to maintain her hair?
This month, there is a Walk-In Selection in HDB for established towns. It started on 6th but we only went to get the queue number on 7th. We are queue number :2519. How many are available for selection? 1113 units. So we are only able to select any leftover available flats on Tuesday 14th.
Today, David and I went to scout around for potential flats. Potential as in, fits out budget, certain criteria and hopefully still available for selection when our turn comes.
Potential Flat 1: Upper Boon Keng Road
We took a slow walk to the place from Kallang MRT. Thank God that the weather throughout our scouting trip was fantastic. Very windy and cloudy. The place is on 4th storey, point-block. Spoke to the neighbour, Ivan who was very helpful. As this flat is tagged as RP - repossessed, meaning HDB took back the flat from the owner, it was very disturbing. Good news! No LOAN SHARK! But the location wasn't very convinient and there was a lot of construction going on and quite a distance to walk. So, don't look very safe for me to walk home at night by myself.
Potential Flat 2: Whampoa Drive
We walked from Boon Keng MRT, beautiful surrounding. The area was very well designed. Location was located on 20th floor (top floor). The lift stops on every floor. The highest number on the lift is 19th :P This time, the first thing we noticed is that it is facing the Central expressway. And yes, noise really travels upwards. Spoke to two neighbour, Mr Beh and another family downstairs. From their feedback it was 95% good. 5% bad. The bad? Noise.
Noise from CTE, noise from the school(occasionally) and noise from the nearby Community Centre who sings Karaoke every 3 months. But, they did mention that they got used to it.
It's an RP too. but no LOAN SHARK.
Potential Flat 3: Rowell Road
Its 7:30 by the time we left Whampoa Drive. We were quite beat after so much walking. Took a cab to Rowell Rd. When the cab stopped, my jaw dropped. Before we even stepped out of the cab, I told David, my answer is No. Downstairs of the flat, the road, everywhere were crowded with many Indians. I'm not against Indians, not at all. I'm currently renting a room from an Indian family and they are great! But I totally did not have any good feeling. Didn't even attempt to go up to the floor to have a look.
The result? Let's wait till Tuesday. If God say this is the flat we should get (Whampoa) then it will still be available for selection and there is no other reason that will pop up for us to reject it.
Hmm...what should we do about the noise? Can we live with it? To take or not to take (
if any) that is the question. Is there a perfect house?
My First Love....opps, can't tell you that. My FIRST Posting!
Helo Helo Helo!
I am so excited! Tell you who influenced me, Angelia Wan and Sally Tan! I had so much fun and update reading their blog that I just had to start. :P
Let's see what happened today :
I'm not a person who likes to watch scary movies. In fact, I avoid them. Why? I want to have sweet dreams at night. :D But, I am very interested to watch old chinese vampire movies. Remember the vampire that jumps jumps, that detects people's movement? Well, this morning at 12am to 2 am, it was on Channel 8. So, I was glued to the TV and at 1:45am, when the baby vampire appears, my room light flickered.
*blink blink dim* That was so eerie! Anyway, there was only 15 minutes to go, how can I not go on to watch it? So, I mustered some courage and complete watching the show.
Nope no nightmares when I slept but for the next hour, I left the TV on while working on some documentation. The room was just..er..too dark that night.
A Bientot!
